Abstract

968,977. Transformers. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS.G.m.b.H. Aug. 29, 1963 [Aug. 31, 1962], No. 34273/63. Heading HIT. Angle rings for transformers and inductors are made by making cuts extending inwards from both side edges of a strip of insulating material and stopping short of an intermediary line on the strip, folding the strip along that line, coiling a number of turns of the strip to form a cylinder of predetermined diameter, turning up the flaps formed by the cuts and securing rigid rings of insulating material on both sides of the flange formed by the turned-up flaps. Fig. lb shows a paper strip from a drum 1 provided with slits at the edges by cutters 3, folded by guides 5 and rollers 6 and wound on a reel 8. The doubled strip is wound on to a former composed of exchangeable arcuate plates 14 (Fig. 2b) carried by adjustable supports 13, by which the plates can be moved to the required diameter. After the flaps have been turned up to form the flange of the angle ring rigid press board rings are secured to them.
