Abstract

968,954. Radio receiving apparatus. S. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) Ltd. Aug. 30, 1963 [Oct. 12, 1962], No. 38662/62. Heading H3Q. A portable radio is attached to a support, e.g. a car body, by means of a member 5 in the shape of a shallow metal box having fixing holes 6, 7 in the base. The radio receiver is supported by means of a lug 12 formed on the side 2 and which engages with a recess 20 formed in one side of the receiver 14 and by the plug 21 attached to an aerial lead which passes through an aperture 10 formed in the side 4 of member 5 before engaging aerial socket 22. The top of the receiver is engaged by soft rubber pads 8, 9 attached to the base of member 5. The receiver input is switched between the external aerial and an internal aerial used outside the car by means of interlocked push-buttons 17, 18. The arrangement is such that the R.F. circuits 19 of the receiver lie within the member 5 and are so screened, in order to prevent the pick-up of interference from the car ingition system.
