Abstract

967,859. Vehicle suspensions. ALFA ROMEO S.p.A. July 14, 1961 [July 21, 1960], No. 25556/61. Heading B7D. [Also in Division F2] A road vehicle suspension comprises a coil spring 2 seating at its one end upon a flange 6 attached to one part 1 of a telescopic vibration damper and at its other end against a member 11 which rotatably houses and is supported by a wheel member 9 in threaded engagement with an extension 12 of the movable part 8 of the telescopic vibration damper. A worm 10 engages complementary teeth upon the periphery of wheel 9 and is connected either directly or through a flexible connection with an electric motor, whereby the member 9 can be rotated to vary point at which the spring 2 is connected to the member 8. A rubber buffer 3 is attached to the member 11 and co-operates with a flange 7 attached to the member 1. The arrangement provides for adjusting the riding height of a vehicle after a load has been placed upon it.
