Abstract

A proces for preparing a polyolefin in finely divided form comprises subjecting a mixture of molten, normally solid polyolefin and water to vigorous agitation in the presence of a minor amount of a block copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide at elevated temperature and pressure, the temperature being such that the meltflow rate of the polyolefin is at least 15, and cooling the dispersion to below the softening temperature of the polyolefin. The amount of the block copolymer is preferably between 0.5 and 15 parts by weight per 100 parts of polyolefin and the amount of water is preferably between 0.6 and 9 parts per part of polyolefin.
