[Also in Division H5] A thermal storage heating device, e.g. a space heater, includes an electric heating element enclosed in a heat storage medium comprising magnetite, haematite or a mixture thereof. The medium may be in the form of powder contained in a canister or may be moulded into blocks using a binding agent such as aluminous cement. Suitable materials for moulding are a concrete containing ten parts by weight of magnetite and one part by weight of Ciment Fondu, or a mix containing three parts by weight of magnetite and one part by weight of a natural clay, e.g. fire clay which is fired after moulding. The element may be of the sheathed wire type and may be embedded in the powdered medium or mounted in a vertical hole or slot extending through one or several storage blocks. Alternatively an unsheathed element may be that in a concrete block, of higher electrical resistance than the storage medium, which is mounted in the said hole or slot.
