Abstract

In the course of the oxidation of liquid cyclohexone cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone by free oxygen, the reaction mixture is subjected to reduction whereby cyclohexanone and cyclohexyl hydroperoxide are converted to cyclohexanol. The reduction may be effected by catalytic hydrogenation or by means of a reducing compound or a metal which liberates hydrogen on reaction with acids present.
