Abstract
953,056. Wall - plugs; anchoring bolts. BERGWERKSVERBAND G.m.b.H. March 30, 1960 [April 20, 1959 (2); July 7, 1959; Sept. 7, 1959], No. 11134/60. Heading F2H. In a method for securing a fixing element, e.g. an anchor bolt 7, in position in a hole 6 bored to receive it, with a diameter which is oversized relatively to the maximum diameter of the part of the bolt 7 extending in the hole 6, a filling mass is used including at least two constituents brought into contact in the hole to form a mixture which then hardens to secure the bolt 7 in position. At least one of the constituents is in a frangible capsule broken in the hole by the bolt 7 on introduction of the bolt 7 thereinto. The constituents may be each contained in respective frangible capsules and brought into contact on breaking the capsules in the hole 6. The capsules may be inserted into the hole 6 as a single cartridge 1, which may contain the constituents in separate compartments, to be brought into contact on the said breaking of the cartridge 1. The anchor bolt 7 preferably has a helical rib 8 where it extends in the hole 6, and is rotated therein, to exert a worm action on the filling mass to mix the constituents thereof and to pack it in the hole 6. With two capsules or compartments one may contain a synthetic resin in liquid form and the other may contain a hardening agent, e.g. between 8 and 10% of the synthetic resin, with or without an accelerating agent, e.g. between 1 and 2%, and a substance which evolves a gas upon increase in temperature may be incorporated with the synthetic resin and also a filler such as quartz sand, quartz powder or glass fibres. One capsule may contain dry cement mortar and the other may contain mixing water, with or without an accelerating agent. The cartridge 1 may have an outer wall formed with longitudinal lines of weakening, spaced around its periphery, and may have external peripheral ribs of resilient material at axially-spaced positions to bear resiliently against the walls of the hole 6. The outer wall of the cartridge 1 may be glass. The cartridge 1 may have a sealing element 5, at that end which is the outer end when it is inserted in the hole 6, which bears resiliently against the wall of the hole 6 to retain the cartridge 1 therein, having a central aperture for introducing a bolt 7 into the hole 6 and hence to destroy the cartridge 1.
