Abstract

950,117. Arc-rupturing in switches. ETABLISSEMENTS MERLIN & GERIN S.A. June 29, 1961 [July 1, 1960], No. 23525/61. Heading H2B. In an arc-shoot similar to that of Specification 702,834, the insulating plates have ribs 4 on one face, the plates being arranged in pairs with the ribs of adjacent plates opposite each other. Each pair of plates is separated from the next by spacers 9 to provide flues for exhausting hot gases. In addition the plates may be porous, and the peripheral ribs 2 may have a number of bosses so as to leave a peripheral exhaust slit which contains porous seals to prevent passage of flames through the slit. The conductive members 6 straddle two insulating plates 11 and 1<SP>11</SP> arranged back to back.
