Abstract

959,805. Jugs &c. FARROW & JACKSON Ltd. June 14, 1962 [July 14, 1961], No. 25633/61. Heading A4A. [Also in Division B1] A filter 15 of woven stainless steel wire is secured to a lid 7 by a bolt 17 and cruciform support 16 to span a depending flange 8 on the lid which has a shoulder 11 resting on a ledge 10 in the mouth of a jug used for the infusion of coffee grounds placed in the jug. The flange has arcuate recesses 9 through which, on tilting the jug, the filtered liquid passes to a clearance 14a, between the jug and the lid, and to a conical flange 5 which is deeper at the side 6 to form a spout. The flange 8 has lugs 12 which pass through recesses in the ledge 10 and are turned thereunder to retain the lid when the jug is tilted. A stand 22 is provided which consists of a skirt 23 and a receptacle 27 receiving the reduced lower end 2 of the jug and a night light 28, the jug being heated directly and by convection air currents rising through apertures 29. The jug and stand are made of earthenware, stainless steel or copper, a copper jug having a non- toxic lining.
