956,852. Change-speed gear. BOLINDER-MUNKTELL A.B. March 30, 1961 [April 1, 1960; April 26, 1960], No. 11664/61. Heading F2D. A change-speed gear providing eight or nine (Fig. 3, not shown) forward ratios comprises aligned input, intermediate and output shafts 5, 6a, 6b, parallel with two countershafts 7, 8, the input shaft 5 and first countershaft 7, and intermediate shaft 6a and second countershaft 8 being permanently geared together respectively by gear pairs 10, 11 and 16, 17 and the intermediate and output shafts 6a, 6b carry sliding gears 13, 15 and 19 selectively meshed with gears 12, 14 and 18 fast on the first and second countershafts whilst selective engagement of clutches 23, 20, 21 respectively connect the input and intermediate shafts 5, 6a; intermediate and output shafts 6a, 6b; first and second countershafts 7, 8. Power paths from the input shaft 5 to the output shaft 6b for the ratios are as follows: 1st. Shaft 5, gears 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, shaft 6b. 2nd. Shaft 5, gears 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, shaft 6b. 3rd. Shaft 5, gears 10, 11, clutch 21, gears 18, 19, shaft 6b. 4th. Shaft 5, clutch 23, gears 16, 17, 18, 19, shaft 6b. 5th. Shaft 5, gears 10, 11, 14, 15, clutch 20, shaft 6b. 6th. Shaft 5, gears 10, 11, 12, 13, clutch 20, shaft 6b. 7th. Shaft 5, gears 10, 11, clutch 21, gears 17, 16, clutch 20, shaft 6b. 8th. (direct drive). Shaft 5, clutches 23, 20, shaft 6b. A clutch 22 may connect a power take-off shaft 9 to the second countershaft 8 in the lowest four ratios and in the higher four ratios may connect the power take-off shaft to a shaft 24 which is either driven independently from the input or is driven from the first countershaft. An additional reversing gear train may be provided between the first countershaft 7 and intermediate shaft 6a or between the second countershaft 8 and output shaft 6b which former provides two reverse ratios whilst the latter provides four reverse ratios. In Fig. 3 (not shown), a single sliding gear pair is provided between the first countershaft and intermediate shaft and two sliding gear pairs are provided between the second countershaft and output shaft which arrangement produces nine forward ratios.
