956,109. Automatically preparing coffee. H. PATZNER. Nov. 9, 1962 [Nov. 10, 1961], No. 42378/62. Heading A4D. Coffee is automatically prepared in three percolators 5a, 5b, 5c, which are carried by a turntable 4 at 120 degree intervals, the turntable being raised and lowered by the co-operation of a cam 3 and roller 13. The turntable 4 is intermittantly rotated through 120 degrees then raised for each of the percolators to engage in turn a coffee grinder 7 which delivers a charge of coffee, a valve 6, which supplies boiling water from a boiler 9 to the percolator already charged with coffee and a third device which removes the coffee grounds from the percolator. The used coffee grounds can be removed either by rotating a knife 15 which scoops the grounds out, the grounds being ejected through a pipe 8, or by flushing the percolator upwards with water (Fig. 5). The flushing is effected either by passing water under pressure through a pipe 17, which is sealed, to an opening 21 of e.g. percolator 5c, and out through pipe 19, or by applying suction through pipe 19. The coffee can be delivered to a cup through a pipe 25 which is sealed by a ring 26 to the opening 21 of the percolator when it is in the position of the peroclator 5b in Fig. 5.
