In a printing and duplicating machine wherein sheets are fed from a main stack by suckers 19 or other gripper means, supplementary sheets can be fed to the machine by the suckers 19 without interrupting the machine, by arranging an additional sheet table lover the main stack for movement thereover to a position beneath the suckers, on the operation of a control lever 12 which causes mechanism constantly reciprocated in synchronism with the machine to be engaged with the table 1. A crank-arm 2 secured to a single revolution shaft of the machine is linked by a rod 3 to a bellcrank 4, 4a, and a rod 5 connects the arm 4a to a slide 6 freely mounted on a rail 7 supported in the frame of the supplementary table 1. The table 1, which is locked in a stationary position when the control lever 12 is in the position A, is fitted with rails 17 at each side which run in rollers 16, and the slide 6 is idly reciprocated along the rail 7. There are two pivoted catches 8, 9 on the slide 6 which are urged downwardly by springs, and which co-operate, respectively, with cams 10 and 11 secured to the rail 7. The rail 7 and its cams 10, 11 can be displaced relatively to the slide 6 and table 1 by the lever 12 which rocks a bell-crank 14, 15 the arm 15 being connected to the rail 7. With the control lever 12 in the position A, the cam 10 is moved into the range of reciprocation of the slide 6 and raises the.catch 8, and the arm 15 also deflects a safety catch 18 to engage a stop on the table 1. When the lever 12 is moved to the position E, the safety catch 18 is raised, the catch 8 is released to engage behind a stop on the table 1, the catch 9 is already located in front of the table stop, and the slide 6 thus carries the table 1 forward into position beneath the suckers 19. During this forward motion, the catch 9 rides along the cam 11 and is released, so that the table remains in forward position when the slide 6 returns. Sheets are now separated from the supplementary table 1 by the suckers 19 until the control lever 12 is moved back to position A.
