Abstract

948,235. Valves. NORMALAIR Ltd. Aug. 28, 1962, No. 32920/62. Heading F2V. A hinged flap non-return or relief valve comprises a flap 6 hinged about a spindle 5, 10 and urged to closed position against a seat by a torsion spring 9 mounted on the spindle, one end of this spring being extended across the flap for co-operation therewith, the valve being characterized in that adjusting means for adjusting the tension of the spring is provided at the location where the spring end co-operates with the flap. The spring end is slidably located in a groove on the head of a bolt 12 carried by the flap, this bolt being adjustable to vary the spring tension by washers 13 underneath the bolt head. The arrangement is duplicated by two semi-circular flaps 6 on opposite sides of the diametrally placed spindle 5, 10 which carries one spring 9 for each flap. A stop guard 15 limits the opening of the flaps.
