Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of general formula: <FORM:0947001/C2/1> wherein n is a whole number from 2 to 5 inclusive, R is halogen, and R1 is hydrogen or halogen; and their acid addition salts; and their preparation by (1) reacting a compound <FORM:0947001/C2/2> with an acid addition salt of a compound <FORM:0947001/C2/3> wherein z is a hydrocarbonthio or hydrocarbonoxy radical, or an unsubstituted, mono or poly-substituted unsaturated nitrogen heterocyclic radical containing at leasr two nitrogen atoms in its ring system and connected to the amidine carbon atom through nitrogen, or (2) reacting a compound II or an acid addition salt thereof with cyanamide or dicyanamide. The compounds which have antihypertensive and antibacterial activity, may be administered orally or parenterally.
