[Also in Division F4] A helical belt for the conveyance of material through a drier comprises latticed screens 4, Fig. 2, carried by an endless chain 3, the links of which carry projections 5, to engage driver rods 2 attached to a rotating closed cylinder 1, Fig. 1. The screen frames have metal plates 8 in accordance with the curvature of the cylinder 1 and drier housing 7 and the frames also have plates 9 which cover the free triangular gaps created by the screens during their helical passage through the drier, which plates are slid under the following screen when the screens are moving along rectilinear paths of travel on approaching and leaving the drier. The material is dried by the passage of hot air therethrough supplied and discharged through eccentrically mounted ducts 12, 13 respectively. Specification 478,843 is referred to.
