Abstract
The invention comprises 2-guanidino-4-phenylquinazolines in which the carbocycle of the quinazoline and the phenyl radical in the 4-position may be substituted more especially compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0946100/C2/1> and their acid addition salts wherein R1 R2 and R3 may be the same or different and represent hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl C1-6 alkoxy, halogen or trifluoromethyl and the preparation thereof by reacting an appropriate ortho-aminophenyl-phenyl ketone with dicyandiamide. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise the compounds of the invention in admixture or in conjunction with a pharmaceutical excipient and may be presented as tablets, dragees, ointments, creams, suspensions, solutions or emulsions. The compositions may contain other therapeutically active ingredients. The compounds of the invention may also be incorporated into animal feeds.
