946,001. Heat-insulated ducting; supporting insulation. NEWALLS INSULATION CO. Ltd. Aug. 9, 1962 [Aug. 9, 1961], No. 28790/61. Headings F2P and F2X. In ducting 1 or another structure having thermal insulation protected by an outer skin 2, bridge-shaped clips 5 having elongated holes 8 in the webs 7 thereof are fixed to the inner surface of the skin, and studs 9 welded to the structure pass through the holes 8 and receive fastening devices which engage the web to hold the skin in position. The skin may be of profiled metal, e.g. aluminium, and the space between the skin and the ducting filled with fibrous glass. As shown, in Fig. 3, a self-locking nut 12 having a boss is adjusted in position on the stud 9 so that the clip 5 bears on the head of the nut, a further self-locking nut 13 being screwed on to the stud. In modifications, (a) the nut 12 is replaced by an ordinary selflocking nut and a washer 15 formed with a boss, and (b) a plain stud 9 is used and gripped on either side of the web of the clip by washer-like gripping devices.
