933,188. Hand saws; files. J. M. BURLINSON. Nov. 13, 1961 [Aug. 12, 1960], No. 27965/60. Class 61. A hack saw frame 1 is fitted with interchangeable loose sleeves 7 having one or more slots 9 of differing sizes so that saw blades 6 or tension files of various thicknesses or shapes can be fitted. The slots may have stepped portions 10, 11 or may be spaced angularly round the sleeve. The sleeves are retained on the legs 3, 4 by the frame tension transmitted through the blade 6, and projections 12 or a shoulder limit the extent to which the sleeves fit over the legs. The sleeves may be moulded from synthetic plastic material. For slackening the tension in the frame in order to remove a blade, a plate may be provided for attachment to a bench, the plate having a key-hole slot opening from one end for the reception of one leg of the frame. The plate may also be used for spreading the legs if the frame has lost its tension.
