933,004. Photographic processes. KODAK Ltd. May 3, 1960 [May 4, 1959], No. 15635/60. Class 98 (2). An unhardened gelatino-silver halide emulsion layer is exposed to a two-tone subject such as a line or half-tone image, if desired by reflex methods, developed by means of a solution containing potassium carbonate and acetamide (which acts as gelatine softening agent) in the presence of both tanning and non-tanning developing agents to produce silver images in hardened gelatine and unhardened gelatine in highlight and shadow regions respectively, and a thin stratum of the latter regions is transferred in the presence of moisture to a reception layer, such as the paper sheet carrying a mixture of thiourea as intensifying agent and sodium formaldehyde bisulphite as development suppressing agent of Specification 800,772, to give a positive image in this layer. Repeated transfers may be made. In an example, 4-phenylcatechol and 4-methoxy-α-naphthol are used as the respective developing agents and are provided in the emulsion layer, for processing by the above solution only. The procedure generally follows that of Specifications 655,273, 655,274 and 725,667. Operation in room lights with daylight working emulsions is referred to.
