Abstract
931,817. Pipe couplings. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 4, 1962 [April 4, 1961], No. 11985/61. Class 99(1). A coupling for metal pipes and fittings comprises an externally screw-threaded socket suitably secured on or integral with a pipe or fitting 1, a collar 6 screwed on to a pipe 5, a coupling nut 7 to engage the socket and to enclose and bear on the collar, and a coned, metal joint ring 4 of triangular cross-section and disposed in the socket. As shown, the collar is formed of two parts, and the ring 4 is of austenitic steel and may have straight, convex or concave sides.
