Abstract
The invention comprises the compound of formula <FORM:0930306/IV(a)/1> and its preparation by reacting 2-amino-5-chlorobenzoxazole with an acetylating agent. 2-Amino-5-chlorobenzoxazole is prepared by reacting 2-amino-4-chlorophenol with cyanogen bromide. 2-Amino-4-chlorophenol is prepared by diazotising aniline, reacting it with p-chlorophenol and treating the product with sodium hydrosulphite. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise the compound of the formula shown above in association with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Suspensions, powders, tablets and capsules of absorbable material are mentioned for oral administration. The compound is a uricosuric agent.
