A number of foamed polystyrene plates 2 covered with " biological fur " are assembled on a shaft which is capable of rotation and are almost half-immersed in sewage fed into tank 11 at 10 and leaving as shown. The plate assembly is kept apart by spacer cams 15. The plates which can be other shapes than the flat circular type shown can be rotated by electric or water power.
