Abstract

939,814. Infusion packages. RUDD-MELIKIAN Inc. Oct. 7, 1959 [Oct. 31, 1958], No. 22395/63. Divided out of 939,813. Class 94(1). A beverage cartridge assembly comprises an elongated carrier of fluid permeable flexible material enclosing regularly spaced masses of beverage material and having indexing means for positioning the masses in a beverage dispenser during beverage preparation. As shown, assembly 13 comprises two continuous strips of fluid permeable material, e.g. paper, secured together along their edges and transversely to form cartridges 14, the indexing means being perforations 16. The cartridges can be used with the beverage dispenser described in Specification 939,813 which has pins 15 to engage perforations 16. An impermeable sheath may be provided for the assembly 13 and may consist of two strips of aluminium foil or polyethylene film secured together at their edges. The sheath may be evacuated or charged with inert gas. The beverage dispenser may have means for stripping off this sheath.
