[Also in Group XVII] In a machine for packaging liquid in sachets (see Group XVII) a plastics hose 10 is transversely sealed, cut, then transversely sealed again by elements 26 and 34. Element 26 has blunt surfaces 30 which contact resilient areas 46 and 48 on element 34 to seal the plastics hose, and a sharp surface 32 corresponds to a hard portion 44 to cut the hose. Elements 26 and 34 may be electrically heated and a pendulum arrangement 50 is provided to hold the hose against element 34 when the elements are in contact.
