Abstract
938,501. Electrophotographic development. RANK-XEROX Ltd. Oct. 15, 1959 [Nov. 28, 1958], No. 35003/59. Class 98 (2). [Also in Group XXX] Toner powder for a xerographic copying apparatus is dispensed from hopper 100 by means of a reciprocating grid 45. The hopper has a base plate 40 which is separated from the sides 37, 38 to form two elongate discharge slots 101, 102; and the wire grid 45 is carried by rectangular frame 41-45, so that the grid passes through the slots and moves over the base plate to discharge the powder from the hopper via the slots. The reciprocating movement of the frame is effected in one direction by a driving crank and in the other direction by spring 63 ; the movement being guided by fixed rods 48, 49 which are engaged by blocks 51 carried by the frame. The movement may be varied to vary the rate of discharge. The hopper is carried by arms 52, 53 supported at 54. The grid may be formed of a metal stamping.
