Abstract

938,240. Moulding tiles. FETOK G.m.b.H. May 1, 1962 [May 10, 1961], No. 16548/62. Class 87(2). A continuous process for making tiles comprises extruding a ceramic strip c, profile rolling the strip, providing flanges on the strip and disposing lengths of the flanged strip sideby-side to give a hollow box-like section, firing the so-disposed strips and subsequently removing the flanged portions. The width of the extruded strip is that of a plurality of tiles plus the two flanges. The profile rollers d<SP>1</SP> mark the grooves between the tiles and press the edges of the strip up or down to form the flanges. Cutters f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>11</SP> then form dovetail grooves on the reverse of the strip and at this stage the cross-section is as in Fig. 3 (not shown). Sections l,<SP>1</SP> l<SP>11</SP> &c. of this are then cut off and placed with the edges of the flanges together and mounted in a furnace o as shown in Fig. 2.
