Abstract
938,136. Feeding webs. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 31, 1961 [Dec. 17, 1960], No. 38921/61. Class 100 (1). [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVIII] In a tape feeding apparatus, in which slack loops of a record tape 3 are arranged prior to and after the capstans 1, 1<SP>1</SP> to reduce inertia effects, bins 4 containing the loops are provided with suction outlets 103 to produce negative pressure beneath the loops, and a series of apertures 104 are arranged under movable electrodes 105 to form a series of parallel connected capacitors, in conjunction with fixed common electrodes 114. Provided the number of holes 104 and movable electrodes 105 is sufficient, the capacity change is substantially linear with respect to loop length. The capacity changes are converted into voltage changes by suitable capacitance bridges (Fig. 5, not shown) and the said voltages amplified, rectified and utilized to drive the respective reel motors to maintain substantially constant loop lengths.
