Abstract

938,061. Pipelines. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. April 24, 1962 [May 5, 1961], No. 16507/61. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). In a pipeline installation a pipeline is constrained to adopt a serpentine form so that thermal linear expansions and contractions are accommodated by variations in amplitude of the inflexions. As shown, two pipes 1, 2 of polythene disposed in a trench 3 are anchored at 4 and guided by guides 5 and braced from the walls of the trench by struts 6 of polythene tubing having welded thereto clips 7 embracing one of the pipes; alternatively, the pipes are retained in serpentine form by posts upstanding from the bottom of the trench.
