The leaves 1 and covers 2 of a book are bound together by staples which are inserted from the inside of the fold of the book, the ends 4<SP>1</SP> of the staples are bent down on the outside of the cover, and a binding strip 5 is secured by glue over the spine of the book to cover the ends 4<SP>1</SP> of the staples.
