A plurality of integrally connected bags of thermoplastic material comprises a pair of upper and lower panels each of predetermined thickness integrally connected together longitudinally and provided with a plurality of transverse predetermined spaced fused joints of thickness less than the combined thickness of said pair of panels, each compartment being detachable from the rest along an associated fused joint to form a bag having three closed edges and an open edge. Thermoplastic material 10 is fed from a supply reel 11 around a rotating wheel 12 which causes the material to be folded over upon itself forming upper and lower panels 13 and 14 joined along the edge 15. The panels pass between a pair of pressure and heating bars 16 which are brought together at intervals to form transverse fused joints 18 each of thickness less than the combined thickness of the panels thus forming a plurality of integrally connected compartments open along the edge 17. The joints form a weakened portion so that the compartments can be easily pulled apart to form separate bags. The integrally connected compartments may be rolled on a spool 19 in a container 20 having a slot 21 through which they may be dispensed. In alternative forms of the invention the said panels are connected longitudinally by means of a heat seal either along a marginal edge or located between the two free marginal edges.
