Abstract
937,944. Bolts, hinges and pivots. E. HENSEL. July 19, 1962 [Aug. 5, 1961], No. 27776/62. Classes 44, 65 (2) and 89 (1). A bolt device comprises a bolt member slidably movable in a guide member of resilient material having a slot engaged by a projection of the bolt member, the said slot having a restricted opening at the end of the guide member to allow intentional withdrawal only of the bolt and projection thereon by the yielding of the guide member wall. Such a bolt device may be used as a withdrawable hinge pin, Fig. 1, for a window, and may have notches 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6, in the guide member to enable the projection of the bolt to register in both bolted and unbolted positions. The bolt may be reversible, Fig. 5, so that it may be used alternatively as a latch bolt or as a dead bolt. When used as a dead bolt or hinge pin it may be used in conjunction with a socket, Fig. 11, in which the hole therein is eccentric to permit adjustment of the position thereof. When used as a hinge pin, the opposing hinge pin need not be withdrawable, and may be in the form of a screwed pin, Fig. 16, with or without an eccentric head.
