Abstract

937,347. Electric cables. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. June 28, 1962 [June 28, 1961], No. 23347/61. Class 36. During the manufacture of a mineral insulated cable the metallic casing tube 3 is drawn by a chuck 6 through a reducing die 9. At the same time the conductors 1, 2 are drawn by the same chuck through shrouding tubes 5 mounted in a guide tube 7 and supported in a conductor guide 13. The insulating powder, which may be fused magnesium oxide, is fed from funnel 7 to the inside of guide tube 7 which is provided with holes in its base through which the powder passes to the space between the underside of the conductor guide 13 and a sealing member 18 at the end of the tube.
