Abstract

Hypotensive pharmaceutical compositions comprise a mixture of 50 to 500 parts by weight of a first compound of the general formula <FORM:0936075/VI/1> in which R1 is a C1-5 alkyl group, R2 is a hydrogen atom or alkyl group, each of R3 and R4 is a hydrogen atom or C1-6 alkanoyl group, X is a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl or trifluoromethyl group, X being in the para-position to the amino acid side chain when it is other than hydrogen and n is 1, 2 or 3, the compound being a racemic mixture or having the L absolute spatial configuration at the alpha carbon atom, or a salt of such a compound 10 to 100 parts by weight of a sulphamoyl-3,4-dihydro - 1,2,4 - benzothiadiazine - 1,1 - dioxide or 100 to 1000 parts by weight of a sulphamoyl-1,2,4 - benzothiadiazine - 1,1 - dioxide having one of the general formul <FORM:0936075/VI/2> in which R is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1-5 alkyl, C1-5 alkoxy, nitro, trihalomethyl or amino radical, R1 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-5 alkyl radical; R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, phenyl, halophenyl or halobenzyl radical; R3 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-5 alkyl or C1-5 halogen-substituted alkyl radical; or R2 and R3 are alkyl groups joined to form a cycloaliphatic ring; and each of R4 and R5 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-4 alkyl or C1-5 hydroxy-substituted alkyl radical. They may be in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration, e.g. a tablet, capsule or injectable liquid composition comprising conventional pharmaceutical excipients.
