Abstract

934,531. Valves. B. H. REFSON. Dec. 16, 1959 [Jan. 13, 1959], No. 1275/59. Class 135. A conical through-way cock has a plug 2 secured in a glass body 6 by a threaded cap 9 and rubber and P.T.F.E. washers 12, 13. The plug surface is given a raised reticulated form by a knurling tool producing e.g. a diamondshaped pattern so reducing the bearing area between the plug and body. In another form the reticulation only extends over a medial circumferential band of the plug. The plug and/or the body may be of P.T.F.E. and the body may be reticulated instead of the plug. The reticulation forms a number of depressions and in the valve closed position at least one depression must be disposed between any two ports in the plug and/or body.
