Abstract
922,168. Crucible furnace. CENTRE TECHNIQUE DES INDUSTRIES DE LA FONDERIE. Jan 17, 1962 [Jan. 18, 1961], No. 1722/62. Class 51 (2). A crucible furnace 1 is surmounted by an enclosure 2 comprising an access door 6, a means for supplying a neutral gas e.g. nitrogen therewith and has a system which increases the gas flow when the door is opened. The door 6 seals against an asbestos joint 8 and can be controlled by a pedal 21 which operates the compressed-air jack 9, said jack actuating the door by a cable 11 passing over a sector member 13. The enclosure 2 is supplied by nozzle 16 with gas via pressure-reducing valves 18 and 19 and conduit 17 at a slow, constant rate, but when the access door is opened a valve 20, which is also actuated by pedal 21, opens and allows an increased to compensate for loss through the open door. An opening 22 is provided for a pyrometer.
