Abstract

922,002. Window guide channels. BECKETT, LAYCOCK & WATKINSON Ltd. July 29, 1959 [July 29, 1958], No. 24458/58. Class 20 (3). To provide frictional grip for retaining a window pane in an adjusted position, a resilient non-compressible lining element is received within a felt or like lining of the guide channel to grip the marginal edges of the pane in a sliding window. The resilient nylon or phosphor bronze lining element 10, retained in the guide channel 20 by equally-spaced horizontal ridges 16 and/or spikes 17 in the base is a push fit into the lining 21 and is located, e.g. at the waist rail in the case of a motor vehicle, so as to engage the window throughout its movement. The end 14, 15 of the element is flared outwardly to facilitate entry of the pane. In a modification, one large spike from the base of the element replaces the spikes 17 and is accommodated in a hole in the base of the guide channel 20. The element may be affixed by adhesive.
