Abstract
921,188. Hatch covers. VON TELL TRADING CO. A.B. Nov. 9, 1961 [Nov. 9, 1960], No. 40116/61. Class 113. In a hatch cover having at least two cover sections 2, 3, 4 hinged to each other at 6, 7 the first section 2 being attached to the coaming 1 by a hinged shaft 9, the second section 3 being swingable so that the underside of the sections 2, 3 turn towards each other, and catch means 21-22, 25-26 retaining the first section in raised position and the second section against the first, the hinge shaft comprises coaxial and horizontal bolts 36 on the first section guided in vertical notches 37 in fittings 38 on the hatch coaming (or vice versa) and the first section has beyond the hinge shaft supports 40 which rest against abutments 41 on the coaming before the first section is completely raised. A piston 15 on section 3 compresses a spring 14 on section 2 when the rope 30 is hauled to uncover the hatch so that the cover sections are urged apart for the covering operation.
