Abstract

920,039. Pneumatic conveyers. HENRY SIMON Ltd. Nov. 23, 1961 [Jan. 20, 1961], No. 2335/61. Class 78 (1). A device for preventing choking in a vertical conveyer line 1 comprises a pair of biased flaps 5, 6 arranged to shut off the lower part of the line 1 upon failure of suction in the fan 2 and to release accumulated material from the upper part of the line 1. The flap 5 is normally held open by suction but is urged to the closed position (shown) by a weight 7 or spring to close the line 1 when suction fails. The flap 6 is normally held in the closed position (shown) by an adjustable weight 8 or spring, but may be forced open by the weight of accumulated material which is thereby discharged.
