Abstract

929,901. Hinges and pivots. TONKS (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. Jan. 22, 1962 [March 2, 1961], No. 7603/61. Class 65 (2). In a hinge fitting suitable for glass doors and comprising a body part 5, 6 for attachment to the door 7 and a socketed or spigoted part 9 slidable at rightangles to the hinge axis along a guide on the body part, an adjusting screw 12 engaged in one of the parts is held against the other part by the weight of the door and is arranged to be exposed for operation through the vertical edge of the door nearest the hinge axis. The fitting shown is suitable for the bottom of the door and the guide comprises a tongue 5b projecting into a slot 9a, the screw 12 being engaged in a threaded hole in a lug 9c at the end of the slot and extending into a recess in the part 5 to abut a ball 13 therein. In a modified fitting for the top of the door the screw 12 engages a threaded hole in the body part 5, 6 and abuts the part 9.
