Abstract
929,250. Letter boxes. HYRESGASTERNAS SPARKASSE-OCH BYGGNADS FORENINGARS RIKSFORBUND U.p.A. April 20, 1961 [April 22, 1960], No. 14250/61. Class 18. A letter box comprises an open ended box 1, 2 which extends through a door, an outer flap 6 secured to a channelled member 7 having sides 8 pivotally mounted at 9 so that when the letter box is closed the base of the member 7 extends diagonally across the box 1, 2, and an inner flap 10 hingedly mounted on the inside of the door and connected by arms 11 to the member. 7, the arrangement being such that when the outer flap is swung open the base of the member 7 moves downwardly from the position shown and the inner flap 10 is raised. The box 1, 2 has a peripheral outer flange 4 which may be covered as shown at 5 with a material such as rubber. The underside of the base of the member 7 may be covered with felt and the inner flap 10 may be mounted on a frame which is secured to the inner end of the box 1, 2. The outer flap may carry a name plate 12 and the inner flap may be coated with a sound insultating material. In a modification the member 7 is pivoted at the lower corners of the box 1, 2 and the inner flap is opened by arms moved by projections on the sides 8 of the member 7.
