Abstract

928,953. Thermionic-cathode tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Sept. 25, 1959 [Sept. 27, 1958], No. 32656/59. Class 39 (1). [Also in Group XL (c)] An oscillator frequency is controlled by one or more capacitors C3, C2 and a diode K1, A1 connected in series between the anode and cathode of the oscillator tube and in the same envelope as the latter, a control voltage being applied to vary the diode impedance. The capacitor C3 may be formed by a metal annulus S surrounding a cylindrical anode A (Fig. 5) and the diode anode by a reduced diameter section S1 of the annulus surrounding the cathode K. Alternatively a metal plate may be capacitively coupled with the oscillator tube anode and may be extended to form with the oscillator cathode a diode control tube.
