927,687. Anti-dazzle screens for roads. C. GADANI, and U. GADANI, [trading as C.I.M.E.M. DAEI F. LLI. GADANI]. Sept. 7, 1961 [Jan. 11, 1961], No. 32181/61. Class 107. [Also in Groups I and V] An anti-dazzle screen for roads comprises a number of non-reflecting translucent laminated plastic panels placed in a longitudinal dividing zone between two roadways. The panels which may be flat or corrugated may be secured to vertical stakes and interconnected horizontally by profiled battens made of metal, wood or plastic or may be received in metal or plastic frames secured to vertical uprights which may have a base with a rapid release device for ready removal of the frames. An embodiment of rapid release device, Fig. 4, comprises a base 15 secured to the upright 11 which is held in place on a plate 20 anchored in the ground by rings 21, 22 secured to the plate. A hook 23 pivotally mounted at 26 engages a tooth 24 on the base to hold it in position. In another embodiment of rapid release device the upright is held in a tube anchored in the ground by an engaging hook and tooth. The panels are preferably of glass fibre reinforced polyester resin but may be formed of other resins, e.g. melamine, methacrylic resin, polyvinyl chloride resin. The panels are rendered non-reflecting in the hot or cold phase by means of disconnected foils of a non-reflecting substance, e.g. roughened paper, if a continuous or box process is used, or by means of roughened press moulds. The foils are placed outside glass fibre mats which have been impregnated with polyester resin and with an appropriate lubricant, e.g. soy bean lecithin for assisting in extrusion of the resin and facilitating disengagement of the panels from the moulds. After polymerization the foils are removed leaving rough surfaces on the panels.
