Abstract

927,573. Heat-exchanger tube assemblies. ESSO RESEARCH ENGINEERING CO. Feb. 10, 1961 [April 1, 1960], No. 11629/60. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). A heat-exchange assembly includes a heatexchange tube 21 of glass or alumina material of substantially constant bore and having an external lip 22 at one end thereof, a first end plate 23 adapted to support the lipped end of the tube and a second end plate 24 adapted to support the tube at the other end thereof whereby the tube is slidably mounted in the second end plate. As shown in Fig. 3, four tubes 31 are secured in position by a washer 34 bearing against the lips 32 of the tubes and fixed to the plate 33 by a screw 35; asbestos packing 25 is inserted between the tubes and the apertures in the plates.
