Abstract
927,146. Labelling machines. MORGAN FAIREST Ltd. Feb. 21, 1962 [Feb. 21, 1961], No. 6259/61. Class 73. Relates to labelling machines of the type described in Specification 833,481 in which bottles 1, Fig. 1, on an endless conveyer 2 pass into the labelling run of an endless carrier 4 on which are mounted suction bars 7 for carrying gummed body and neck labels 5, 6 and pushers 8 which press the bottles to the labelling bars 7 for applying the labels to the bottles, the labels being subsequently wiped by brushes 9. The pushers 8 are shaped as at 17 to engage bottles of square section or are of V-shape 29, Fig. 8, to engage bottles of circular or octagonal section. In order to ensure that the bottles are properly centralised and/or oriented for engagement by the pushers, a pair of guide rails 19 are provided, one each side of the conveyer, urged inwardly by springs 22 to a position in which they grip a bottle and centralise it with regard to the pusher before the labels are applied by the bar 7. The rails 19 may be mounted to swing on vertical pivots 20 or on horizontal pivots 34, Fig. 10 (not shown). Specification 927,147 also is referred to.
