Abstract

926,217. Seed sowing machines. W. O. GRIFFITHS. Aug. 17, 1961, No. 29784/61. Class 6(1). A seed sowing machine comprises a disc 4 having a layer 5 of soft resilient material, such as foam polyurethane, which is pressed against the opening 9 of a hopper 10 and carries seeds from the hopper past an abutment 12 where they are discharged down a funnel 16 to a delivery conduit 19, the seeds being embedded in the material 5. The opening 9 is adjusted by providing inter-changeable gates each having a different size aperture, the gates being fitted within the throat of the opening 9. The disc 4 is urged by a spring 15 towards the hopper 10. Two hoppers may be mounted side by side so that the spring 15 may be used to urge two discs towards their respective hoppers.
