Abstract

924,431. Strain-taking devices for flexible leads. HER MAJESTY'S POSTMASTER GENERAL. Aug. 11, 1959 [Aug. 11, 1958], No. 25782/58. Class 38 (1). An insulated electric conductor cord or lead is anchored to an appliance, e.g. a telephone hand set, by providing the cord with a resilient sleeve having one or more radial projections which detachably engage a portion of the appliance. As shown, a resilient sleeve 1, e.g. of rubber or plastics, with a non-circular, preferably square portion 5 is secured round a lead 2 by a metal band 7 furnished with lugs 8 which enter recesses in a boss 4 on an appliance. To insert the sleeve further into the boss 4 the sleeve is twisted to bring the square portion 5 into register with a square recess 6 in the boss 4. On further axial movement the lugs 8 emerge from the recesses 9, whereupon, due to the torsion in the sleeve, the band twists and the lugs engage locking projections 10, which may be chamfered.
