913,217. Mineral-mining machines. EICKHOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI, GEBR. July 31, 1959 [Aug. 9, 1958], No. 26279/59. Class 68 (1). A cutter drum-type coal-mining machine 1 in which the drum 3 rotates about a horizontal axis and cuts down to floor level is provided with an additional cutter 5 which cuts at the same time as the drum a kerf which extends into the seam being mined to a distance equal to or substantially equal to twice the depth of the cut made by the drum. The cutter may be a cutter bar 5 as shown or a cutter chaincarrying positioned above the drum parallel to the axis thereof.
