Abstract

913,030. Silencing gaseous currents. CLAUSEN, M., [trading as DANFOSS VED. ING. M. CLAUSEN]. June 21, 1961 [June 21, 1960], No. 22491/61. Class 7(2) [Also in Group XXVIII] A silencer comprises sound-absorbing chambers each separated from an adjacent chamber by a partition which has at least two bores formed to interconnect the adjacent chambers, at least one of the bores extending substantially parallel to the partition walls. A compressor cylinder block 1 is secured to a supporting element 3 of an electric motor by bolts 2. Soundabsorbing chambers 4, 5, respectively provided with a tubular suction pipe 7 and a bore 6 leading to a suction valve (not shown), are interconnected by means of bore 9 and bore 10 closed by a plate 11. An alternative embodiment combines the element 3 and the block 1 to form a single element with the bores 9, 10 and the chambers 4, 5 all inverted from the positions shown, closing plates being provided for the openings formed in the outer wall of the element by the sound-absorbing chambers. The suction pipe extends through and is supported by the closing plate of the left-hand chamber. It is not necessary for the chambers to open towards the same face providing there is a partition between them. The partition may be provided with two mutually parallel bores interconnected by a short bore.
