Abstract
913,002. Electric meter mountings. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. June 17, 1959 [June 20, 1958], No. 19806/58. Class 37. Electrical apparatus such as a watt-hour meter is hung or clipped on to its wall mounting member and secured by a screw passing through the unit and engaging a threaded hole in the mounting. The screw can be locked or sealed against rotation. In Fig. 1 the screw 16 also retains the terminal cover 19 of a meter in position and prevents unauthorized access. The upper end of the wall bracket 12 enters behind a strap 15 secured to the meter casing. In Fig. 3 (not shown), additional lugs on the meter casing engage a horizontal cross-piece portion of the mounting. All fixing screws-and brackets are concealed at the reard of the meter. In a modification, the vertical strap is extended beyond the upper edge of the casing and provided with a key-hole fixing aperture and at an intermediate point, the strap has bent-up lugs to engage the strap 15. The upper part of the strap may be bent over to protect the key-hole opening. The connection between casing and mounting may be by headed studs engaging in slotted holes.
