912,979. Making cigarettes and filters. KORBER, K. Dec. 23, 1960 [Dec. 28, 1959], No. 44254/60. Class 130. A device in which groups 24, Fig. 1, of elements to be formed into filter rods, cigarettes or cigarillos by the wrapping therearound of connector sheets 26, which groups to effect this are rolled between a stationary surface 23 and a drum 1 whereon they are carried between fins 7 against the preceding one of which they abut when placed on the drum, has the fins 7 mounted on pivots 9, and each fin is moved rearwardly by stationary cams 10 acting on rollers 12 of fin arms 11, Fig. 2, as soon as the surface 23 has moved a following group 242 clear of that fin, the fin thus being clear of a preceding group 241 throughout its wrapping. Fingers 15 positioning the groups 24 at each end thereof are during wrapping withdrawn into the drum 1 by further stationary cams 21 acting via bellcranks 16. As shown, the groups are doublelength filters flanked by cigarettes. Specifications 457,033 and 745,752 are referred to.
